The best Knowt alternative depends on which Knowt job you are leaving. A ranked list of Learn clones is the wrong answer. On the free student plan, Knowt already includes unlimited Learn, Practice Test, and spaced repetition on your own sets.

Stay if that loop still pays: you own the sets, ads are tolerable, and Ultra is a decision about ads and AI limits, not about missing practice modes. Go back to Quizlet if the job is the class library and shared-set graph — especially if you originally imported from Quizlet and those sets still exist there. Choose Anki if you want a large collection of independently scheduled atomic cards and a scheduler you can inspect, including FSRS. Brainscape is the lighter option if you want to rate cards 1–5 instead of being marked correct or incorrect. RemNote fits when you want an outline that generates cards. Yuhimo belongs here only if the explanation should stay a page you schedule as a whole. It does not import Knowt sets, and it is a poor Knowt clone.

People leave because of ads, capped AI, Ultra’s price, a native study object that is still a set, auto-grading they do not want, PDF-only export, or a scheduler that is not FSRS. Those are different jobs. They do not all point at the same replacement.

Why people look for a Knowt alternative

Knowt is easy when the study object is already a set: terms, a Learn round, a generated test, a Match game, a spaced-repetition sitting.

The usual reasons to leave are more specific than “Knowt is bad at memory.”

Ads on free study. Reviews often mention ads on free study. Ultra is the ad-free tier. If the free set workflow is what you use, ads are part of that product — not proof that you need a different app.

AI caps. On the free student plan, AI is capped: 1 summarizer per month, 1 full-length AP/SAT/ACT mock, and 5 practice-room sessions. (Knowt Help) Hitting a cap is an Ultra decision, or a different “AI from files” job. It is not a reason to clone Learn. If the bottleneck is generating study material from PDFs rather than leaving Knowt’s set loop, that is a different comparison.

Ultra’s price. As of 17 September 2026, Knowt Help listed Ultra at $149.99/year or $24.99/month. Check the live free-plan article before treating that as eternal. That is a different price shape from Quizlet Plus. If you only wanted ad-free Learn, Ultra is not automatically the cheaper escape — Learn is already free on Knowt.

The set as the unit. Knowt’s native study object is still a flashcard set. Notes and AI summarizers can produce notes or cards, and notes can generate flashcards. That does not make Knowt a notes-first knowledge base. If the knowledge is already a lecture page or a worked explanation, flattening it into terms is a format change. Notes vs flashcards is a different decision from “which Knowt clone.”

Auto-grading vs self-assessment. Learn tells you immediately whether an answer was correct. Smart grading can ignore small written slips; you can override a wrong mark. That is useful when the next test looks like a generated quiz. It is the wrong loop if you wanted to judge your own recall.

PDF / Share export. The official way out is Export as PDF on the web, or Share on the app. There is no official Anki, Quizlet, CSV, or .apkg export. (Knowt Help)

Scheduler opacity. Knowt’s spaced-repetition mode uses Again / Hard / Good / Easy, with adjustable intervals and a new-cards-per-day cap. It is not documented as FSRS. If the leaving job is a scheduler you can inspect like Anki’s deck options, Knowt SR is not that product.

Spacing reviews over time usually beats cramming for later tests. The useful gap depends on when you need the knowledge. (Cepeda et al., 2006; Cepeda et al., 2008) Retrieving an answer tends to help later recall more than rereading, even if rereading feels more fluent. Free vs Ultra

On the free student plan you can create unlimited flashcard sets and notes, and use Learn, Practice Test, Spaced Repetition, Match, and Flashcards on your own sets. AI is where the caps are. Free is not ads-free. Ultra is.

Learn, Practice Test, and spaced repetition are different products

Flashcards and Match are retrieval only if you try to produce the answer. They are not a schedule.

Learn is free and unlimited on your own sets. You pick multiple choice, written, true/false, or flashcards. It uses Smart grading, shows correct/incorrect immediately, and lets you override a wrong written mark. (Knowt Help) Learn can feel like “the app is teaching me this deck.” It is still a set practice mode. It is not FSRS, and it is not proof that the same cards will return on the right days for years.

Practice Test is a generated check from a set. Useful for a sitting that looks like a test. Not a long-term memory system by itself.

Spaced repetition is a separate mode: Again / Hard / Good / Easy, adjustable intervals, new cards per day. (Knowt Help) Use it when the job is interval ratings on cards. Do not treat it as Anki’s FSRS. Anki documents FSRS in deck options. Knowt does not.

Having Learn does not mean you already left cramming behind. Having SR does not mean you have a transparent, configurable scheduler.

Import is how people arrived. Export is PDF.

Quizlet → Knowt is an arrival path: Chrome extension or manual paste. The extension can be blocked. (Knowt Help) Sets over 100 cards may need See more. (Knowt Help) That is not a path out.

AI can turn a PDF, image, video, PowerPoint, or live recording into notes or flashcards (Knowt Help), and notes can generate flashcards (Knowt Help). That is file-to-set. It is not a knowledge base you can take with you as structured cards.

Stay on Knowt if…

Stay is a first-class answer because the usual “I need a free Learn app” search is already satisfied inside Knowt.

Stay if:

• the next exam still looks like terms, a Learn round, and a practice test
• you created the sets, or you are fine studying public/class material inside Knowt
• PDF export is annoying but not the reason you need to move this week
• Ultra is optional, not required, for the work you actually do

Do not stay only because switching looks hard. Do stay if the replacement you are about to pick is a worse version of the same set loop.

Match the replacement to the leaving job

Ignore overall rankings. Pick the job.

1. Keep the set / Learn / test loop. You still want terms, unlimited Learn, tests, and SR on decks you own. Ads or AI caps are irritants, not a new study object. Stay. Pay Ultra only if you actually need ad-free plus uncapped AI.

2. The class library and social graph. Classmates, teacher-assigned sets, and a shared Quizlet library are the value. That is Quizlet — going back, not cloning Knowt.

3. Long-term atomic SRS. You want thousands of independently scheduled cards, FSRS or a scheduler you can inspect, and you are willing to rebuild. That is Anki. Brainscape is the lighter confidence-rated card option.

4. Notes that generate cards. You want to write an outline and turn bullets into cards. You are not trying to avoid cards. That is RemNote.

5. Notes as pages. You want the explanation to stay a page, optional questions as prompts, and a review of the topic as a whole. That is spaced repetition for notes. When you are picking the app, see spaced repetition app for notes. This is the only job where Yuhimo is a serious Knowt-leaving option.

If you are still deciding whether the knowledge should be a card or a page, settle that before you pick an app.

Quizlet — go back if the library and class graph are the job

You are not looking for a Learn clone. You already have free Learn on Knowt.

Go back to Quizlet when the job you miss is the graph around the sets: a class that still lives there, teacher-assigned decks, classmates’ libraries, or original Quizlet sets you imported into Knowt and never deleted.

That last case is a fork, not a migration. If the Quizlet originals still exist, opening them is cheaper than exporting a Knowt PDF and rebuilding. There is no official set-to-set path. A Knowt PDF is not a Quizlet set file. If the Quizlet originals are gone, you rebuild terms from the PDF or the original source — you do not migrate a library.

The cost of going back is the reason many people left: Quizlet Learn is a Plus feature, with a limited free session and teacher-class exceptions. Do not go back for “free Learn.” That job is already Knowt’s.

Choose Quizlet if the class graph is the product you need, and you still have (or can use) the sets there.

Do not choose Quizlet as a cheaper Ultra, a Knowt SR replacement, or an export hatch. For the Quizlet-origin version of this decision — leaving Quizlet toward Knowt — use Quizlet alternatives for spaced repetition. This page will not retell that scheduler story.

Anki — rebuild for durable atomic SRS

Anki is the stronger choice when the leaving job is a large collection of atomic flashcards with a transparent, customizable scheduler. Desktop and Android are free; the official iOS app is a paid one-time purchase. The US App Store listed AnkiMobile at $24.99 as of 17 September 2026. (Anki, App Store)

Knowt SR already uses Again / Hard / Good / Easy and a new-cards-per-day cap. That can look like Anki from a sitting. It is not documented as FSRS, and Knowt will not export a deck you can open in Anki. An Anki note is a bundle of fields that generates cards. It is not a document. (Anki Manual)

You get deck options, templates, and FSRS if you want them. (Anki Manual) You also take on Anki’s UI and the work of turning a PDF export — or the original source — back into cards.

Choose Anki if you outgrew Knowt because you want years of card-level scheduling you can inspect, not because you wanted a friendlier Learn. Learn was never that.

Do not choose Anki as a notes app, a Quizlet-library substitute, or a one-click exit from Knowt. If the review unit should be notes, that is a different alternatives list.

Brainscape — rate the card yourself

Brainscape is a card app with confidence-based spaced repetition. Creating and studying your own basic cards is free; Pro unlocks more library, media, and AI. As of 17 September 2026, web Pro is listed at $7.99/month. Ratings are 1–5. Official product copy describes the experience as ad-free. The Knowt-leaving job here is “I do not want Learn to mark me correct or incorrect. I want to say how well I knew the card.” Brainscape is built around that rating. It is still cards. It is not a class-graph replacement, and it is not a notes knowledge base.

Choose Brainscape if you want a simpler confidence-rated deck than Anki and you are done with Knowt’s auto-grade loop.

Do not choose Brainscape if the problem is PDF lock-in, Quizlet’s class library, Anki-level scheduling control, or notes that should stay pages.

RemNote — an outline that makes cards, not a Knowt notes upgrade

RemNote is stronger when you want cards inside an outline, not when you want to avoid cards. The free plan is $0 with unlimited notes and flashcards; Pro is listed at $8/month or $96/year on the yearly toggle, as of 17 September 2026. (RemNote pricing) It supports SM-2 and FSRS. Knowt can already turn files into notes and notes into flashcards. That is still a set factory with study modes. RemNote’s pitch is different: write the outline, turn bullets into independently scheduled cards, keep both. You still review cards.

Choose RemNote if you are leaving because Knowt “notes” never became a knowledge base, and embedded cards are the point.

Do not choose RemNote as a no-flashcards escape from Knowt. If the real fork is card-in-outline vs page-as-unit, that is Yuhimo vs RemNote, not a Learn-clone decision.

Yuhimo — only if the page stays the review unit

Yuhimo is our product. It is the wrong Knowt alternative for most people who search this query.

If you need to keep studying existing Knowt sets in Learn, Practice Test, or Knowt SR, stay on Knowt — or go to Anki/Brainscape if the object should remain a card. Yuhimo is for notes you want to keep and review as pages.

A learning page is a normal page you separately mark for review. Saving a page does not turn it into a learning page. Optional questions can prompt recall; they are not independently scheduled cards.

During review the prompt is How well did you remember this? You rate the page:

• Forgot
• Barely
• Remembered
• Easily

Yuhimo does not automatically mark answers correct or incorrect. The grade is self-assessment, not Learn’s exam engine. AI does not grade recall either.

Moving material out of Knowt

Start from what Knowt will actually give you.

On the web, export is Export as PDF. On the app, it is Share. There is no official Anki, Quizlet, CSV, or .apkg path. (Knowt Help)

If you arrived from Quizlet, check whether those sets still exist on Quizlet before you treat the PDF as the source of truth. Reopening the originals is a return, not an export.

Quizlet has no official set-to-set path from Knowt. A Knowt PDF is not a Quizlet set file. If the Quizlet originals are gone, you rebuild terms from the PDF or the original source.

Anki and Brainscape can take a term–definition list you type or paste from a PDF (or from the original source). That is a text move, not a library migration. Images and formatting from the PDF are your problem.

RemNote is a rewrite into an outline-plus-cards workflow, not a Knowt importer you should count on as the main plan.

Yuhimo has no Knowt-set import. Paste or import readable text into a page, then decide whether that page should become a learning page. Do not expect your decks to reappear as a queue of cards.

Choose Quizlet if you are leaving for the class library and shared-set graph — and you still have a way into those sets.

Choose Anki if the real job is a large, durable, independently scheduled card collection. Knowt SR was never FSRS.

Choose Brainscape if you want confidence-rated cards and you are done with auto-grading.

Choose RemNote if you want the outline and the cards in one place.

Choose Yuhimo only if you want to keep notes as notes and schedule selected pages.

The useful question is not which logo looks most like Knowt. It is which object should come back tomorrow: a term you already have, a card you are willing to rebuild, a card inside an outline, or a page.
