Self-assessment means you decide how well you remembered the material.

Yuhimo can show the page title, review questions, answers, and original page content. But after checking yourself, you choose the rating.

That rating becomes the signal Yuhimo uses to schedule the next review.

Yuhimo does not treat every learning page like a flashcard with one exact answer.

A page can contain a lot of context, and not every sentence needs to be memorized. You may only care about a few key ideas from a long page.

An automatic checker would need to know which parts matter to you. That would make the system more complex and often less accurate.

• Personal context
• Only some parts you actually want to remember

Self-assessment works well for long notes because it respects your intent.

You may keep a long page for context, but only want to remember the main ideas. You may also have technical notes where understanding matters more than repeating exact wording.

Instead of forcing every page into a strict question-and-answer format, Yuhimo lets you review the material in the way that fits the page.

• Again — you mostly forgot the material.
• Hard — you remembered it, but it took effort.
• Good — you remembered it well enough.
• Easy — you remembered it clearly and quickly.

These ratings are not grades in the school sense. They are scheduling signals.

The goal is not to look successful. The goal is to give Yuhimo an honest signal so it can schedule the next review correctly.

Use Again when:

• You could not recall the main idea
• You needed to read most of the answer or page again
• The material felt mostly forgotten

Use Hard when:

• You remembered part of it
• You needed hints or questions
• Recall was slow or uncertain

Use Good when:

• You remembered the important parts
• Minor details were missing, but the concept was clear
• You could explain it reasonably well

Use Easy when:

• Recall was quick and clear
• You did not need much help
• The material felt stable

You do not need to reproduce the whole page word for word.

For most pages, the useful question is: did you remember the parts that matter?

If the core idea was clear, Good may be the right rating even if you missed a few details. If you only recognized the material after reading the answer, Hard or Again may be more accurate.

Questions in Yuhimo are there to help you recall.

They are not mandatory tests. A page can be reviewed with questions, without questions, or by opening the original content and checking yourself.

AI-generated questions are also editable. They are helpers, not final authority. See AI question generation for more.

Yuhimo depends on honest ratings.

If you rate material as Easy when you barely remembered it, the next review may be too far away. If you rate everything as Again, reviews may become too frequent.

The best rating is the one that reflects how recall actually felt.

You review a page called "React useEffect cleanup".

You remember that cleanup runs before the next effect and when the component unmounts, but you forget one edge case from your note.

If the main concept was clear, you might choose Good.

If you only remembered after opening the answer, Hard would be more accurate.

If you could not recall the core idea at all, choose Again.

Self-assessment is what keeps Yuhimo flexible.

Yuhimo does not force your notes into rigid flashcards or automatic tests. You review the material, judge your own recall, and Yuhimo uses that signal to schedule the next review.

Does Yuhimo check if my answer is correct?

No. Yuhimo does not automatically check your answer. You review the material and choose the rating yourself.

Can I still use questions?

Yes. Questions help guide recall, but they are optional. You can write them manually or generate them with AI.

Should I choose Good if I missed small details?

Usually yes, if you remembered the important parts clearly. If the missing details were central to the page, choose Hard instead.

What happens if I rate myself too generously?

The next review may be scheduled too far in the future, which can make forgetting more likely.

What happens if I rate myself too harshly?

The page may appear too often, which can make reviews less efficient.
