Scoped learning sessions

A scoped learning session is a focused review session for one part of your knowledge base.

You choose a page or branch, and Yuhimo reviews learning pages inside that scope.

This is useful when you want to study one topic instead of going through your full review queue.

The main review session uses learning pages that are due across your whole workspace. A scoped session starts from a selected page branch and focuses on one topic or subtree.

Yuhimo uses nested pages to organize knowledge.

A page can contain other pages, so a topic can become a branch of related notes.

Scoped learning sessions use this structure. When you start a session from a branch, Yuhimo can focus on the learning pages inside that branch.

Scoped sessions are useful when your goal is focused study.

For example, you may want to review only your React notes, only one language-learning branch, or only pages related to a project.

• You want to refresh a branch before work, study, or an exam
• You do not want to review everything due today
• You want to focus on one knowledge area

Yuhimo supports two scoped session modes.

Due only includes review-phase pages inside the branch that are already due today or overdue. This stays close to your normal schedule.

Deep dive includes more review-phase pages from the selected branch that have not received a review-grade today, even if some are not due yet. This is useful when you want to refresh a whole topic intentionally.

Ratings in scoped sessions work the same way as ratings in the main review session.

When you choose Again, Hard, Good, or Easy, Yuhimo updates that page’s learning state and schedules the next review.

A scoped session is focused by topic, but the rating still affects the real learning schedule through FSRS-light.

Scoped sessions do not create a second schedule or a second daily grade. Review-phase pages follow the same one-grade-per-calendar-day rule as the global review session and manual grading from the page.

If you review a page before its scheduled date inside a scoped session, Yuhimo treats it as an early review.

Early reviews can be useful for focused practice, but they may provide less scheduling progress than reviews done closer to the planned date. See Early and late reviews.

You have a page branch called "Frontend".

Inside it, you have pages for React Components, useEffect, React Query, and CSS Layout.

You want to refresh only this topic before working on a project.

You start a scoped learning session from the "Frontend" branch.

Yuhimo shows learning pages inside that branch. You review them, rate your recall, and Yuhimo updates their next review dates.

Scoped sessions do not create a separate copy of your learning schedule.

They are another way to enter the same learning system, limited to a selected part of your page tree.

• They do not ignore the normal learning state
• They do not bypass review-phase grading limits
• They are not a way to review learning-phase acquisition steps

Is a scoped session different from a normal review session?

Can I use scoped sessions for pages that are not due yet?

Yes, in Deep dive mode. Those reviews are treated as early reviews and may receive less scheduling progress.

Do scoped sessions create duplicate learning items?

No. They use the same learning pages and the same learning state.

When should I use a scoped session?

Use it when you want to focus on one subject, branch, project, or study area instead of reviewing your full queue.
