Why is offline mode read-only?

You may be able to open and read content that was cached before you went offline.

Which pages are available depends on what Yuhimo has stored locally in your browser. Do not expect every page to be available offline.

Offline mode shows a local read-only snapshot. Live workspace data and learning state live on Yuhimo’s servers while you are online.

Offline edits could conflict with changes made on another device, another browser, or after a page was deleted or moved. Merging rich notes, page trees, questions, and learning state is complex. Failed sync could cause data loss or duplicated work.

Read-only offline mode is safer than queuing offline edits that cannot be reliably reconciled with server data.

Cached content may be outdated until Yuhimo reconnects and refreshes the local snapshot.

If you edited a page elsewhere, trashed a note, or graded on another device, the offline copy may not match until refresh completes. A page permanently deleted online may still appear in an old cached copy until you refresh the cache or clear local data.

Learning and review sessions change live scheduling state. They need current due dates, session rules, and server-side learning data.

Offline mode only shows a cached read-only snapshot. Starting a session or submitting grades offline could disagree with changes made elsewhere or with pages already reviewed today.

You may read cached pages and questions offline, but you cannot run a session that records grades until you reconnect. See How reviews work.

Review grades affect scheduling. A grade updates learning state, due date, and FSRS-light values such as stability, difficulty, and retrievability.

Offline grading could disagree with server learning state if the same page was graded elsewhere, or if due dates and intervals changed while you were offline. Review-phase calendar-day limits and learning-phase step timing need a live connection to stay consistent.

Offline cached content exists for temporary access, not recovery.

Cache may be incomplete, outdated, or cleared by browser or app storage behavior. Backups are for recovery. Exports are for portability.

Offline access lets you read available cached content inside Yuhimo.

Export creates a separate readable copy you can use outside the app. Offline cache is not meant to be a portable file or archive.

Study material generation and AI question generation depend on online services. When you are offline, do not expect Yuhimo to create an outline, generate pages, save generated material, or generate new questions.

Existing saved questions may be readable if their page is cached. AI does not grade review answers in Yuhimo.

Reopen Yuhimo with a stable internet connection.

Let the app load the latest workspace state. Then edit pages, add questions, turn on learning, or review due pages.

Yuhimo refreshes and reconciles the local snapshot with server data when you are online again. Until that finishes, cached pages may look outdated.

Use Refresh cache in Settings if needed. Do not treat offline cache as the source of truth — the cache is meant for access, not recovery.

Will every page be available offline?

Can I generate AI questions offline?

No. Study material generation and AI question generation should be treated as online features.

What should I do if I need to work offline?
