Import brings content into Yuhimo.

Export saves content from Yuhimo into readable files.

Backup is different: it preserves Yuhimo data in a structured format so it can be restored later. See Backups and restore behavior.

Yuhimo supports importing common text-based formats such as TXT, DOCX, and HTML.

Imported content is added into the editor so you can continue editing it inside Yuhimo.

Formatting may vary depending on the source file. Plain text imports are usually the simplest. DOCX and HTML imports may preserve some structure, but not every detail is guaranteed to look exactly the same.

Import is page-level content import.

When you import a readable file into the editor, Yuhimo inserts or appends that content into the current page. It does not replace your whole workspace, does not restore a backup file, and does not restore learning state.

If the imported content needs cleanup, you can edit it after import while you are online. Import requires an internet connection and is not available in offline mode. Offline cache is read-only (about 20 MB per note, about 300 MB total) and is not export or backup.

Import is not the same as restore.

It brings content into a page, but it does not recreate learning state, review history, stability, difficulty, or full backup structure.

Yuhimo can export notes into readable formats such as HTML, TXT, and PDF.

For page subtrees, Yuhimo can export multiple pages as a ZIP archive in HTML or TXT format.

These exports are meant for reading, sharing, archiving, or keeping an external copy of your notes.

A single page export saves the selected page as a readable file.

Use this when you want to share one note, archive one article, or keep a readable copy outside Yuhimo. Child pages are not included unless you use subtree export.

A subtree export saves a selected page branch.

This is useful when a topic is organized as a parent page with child pages inside it.

Yuhimo creates a ZIP archive containing multiple exported files in HTML or TXT format. PDF is available for single-page export, not subtree ZIP export.

Use export when you want readable files.

Use backup when you want to preserve Yuhimo data in a form that can be restored later.

If you care about learning progress, review history, stability, difficulty, and due dates, use backup instead of export.

Readable export focuses on page content. Question export depends on the selected format and current Yuhimo version. For how questions work in the app, see Questions.

If you need a complete restorable copy of pages, questions, and learning data, use backup instead of readable export.

Readable exports are not designed to preserve learning progress.

They usually do not include scheduling state such as stability, difficulty, due dates, or review history. Use learning pages with backup when you need that data preserved.

You have a branch called "Frontend".

If you want to share the notes with a friend, export the branch as HTML or TXT.

If you want to preserve the branch with questions, learning state, and review history so you can restore it later, create a backup instead.

Import and export are for moving readable content in and out of Yuhimo.

Import appends external text-based content to your notes. Export creates readable files such as HTML, TXT, or PDF. If you need to preserve Yuhimo structure, questions, and learning progress for restore, use backup instead.

Is export the same as backup?

No. Export creates readable files. Backup creates structured Yuhimo data that can be restored later.

Does export preserve learning progress?

Usually no. Use backup if you want to preserve stability, difficulty, due dates, and review history.

Can I import DOCX files?

Yes. DOCX import is supported, but formatting may not be preserved perfectly.

Can I export a whole topic?

Yes, if the topic is organized as a page subtree. Subtree export is available in HTML or TXT as a ZIP archive.

Can I restore exported HTML or TXT as a full Yuhimo backup?

No. HTML and TXT exports are readable content files, not full Yuhimo backup files.

Which should I use before making major changes?

Use backup. Export is useful for readable copies, but backup is safer for recovery.

Is PDF, HTML, or TXT export a backup?

No. Those are readable exports for portability. Backup is a structured Yuhimo file for restore inside the app.

Does importing a DOCX restore my whole workspace?

No. Readable import adds content to a page. Full workspace recovery uses backup restore, which adds copies instead of replacing the workspace.
